About the Cancer Intelligence Unit (CIU)
The Chemotherapy Intelligence Unit (CIU) was commissioned by the National Cancer Intelligence Network (NCIN) and National Cancer Action Team (NCAT) to provide a repository for the cancer chemotherapy data for England.
The CIU will be the central collation point for all data submissions in England, and will be responsible for management and quality assurance of the data and the provision of support to submitting units.
The CIU will also provide an analytical function which will make regular clinically approved reports available to key stakeholders.
The CIU is based at Solutions for Public Health (SPH), an NHS Public Health Consultancy which hosts the Oxford Cancer Intelligence Unit, National Drug Treatment Monitoring System and the South East Public Health Observatory. SPH Data Mangement Service has a solid foundation of experience and expertise in the development, implementation and management of data collection processes. This is further supported by the analytical skills and health intelligence expertise which operate in tandem with the Data Management Service.
