SACT File Formats
The SACT system will accept data in a number of different formats as follows :-
Excel/CSV Comma Separated Value: This is the simplest and most flexible format and can be generated from Excel reports or directly from the trusts computer systems. It is human readable so the data is easy to check before it is uploaded. It is suggested that trusts start with this format and move to one of the more efficient ones when the the data in their extracts has been tested and finalised. Read about the CSV format here.
SOAP XML/XSD format: This industry standard format allows data to be transmitted to SACT directly from a trusts computer system without human intervention. It is fast and highly efficient with patient records able to contain the full patient history of regimen, cycle and drug treatments. A test program containing samples of using this format is available here. Please contact the CIU helpdesk if you would like further details.
ISB XML/XSD format via file upload: This is the format prescribed by the ISB project board. It is fast and efficient, however the data does have to be generated correctly for it to be accepted and each patient record can only contain one regimen or cycle entry. Read about the ISB format here [Information Standards Board (ISB) SACT Standard Publication]. A test program containing samples of using this format is available here . Please contact the CIU helpdesk if you would like further details.
